Venture by boat to Capers Island, the closest untouched Barrier Island to
Charleston. Cruise through winding tidal creeks to find diverse wildlife unique
to the salt marsh environment. Our Naturalist will pull a sampling net, habitat
traps, and crab traps for up close viewing of marine creatures for our
aquarium and will explain how the salt marsh functions. Once on Capers you will have
a chance to explore the beautiful 3.5 mile “boneyard” beach, or take inland
trails to visit brackish ponds. We also offer Sunset Cruises, Creek Fishing,
Crabbing, Kayaking, and custom outings on our 6 passenger boats. Our trips
range from 2-5 hours, and we can accommodate groups from 2-40. Reservations @ (843) 886-5000. |

In search of Charleston's tideland treasures? Spend a delightful
2 hours with our local naturalist aboard the Palmetto, our 45 ft.
catamaran. We'll discuss the abundant wildlife seen in Charleston
Harbor's estuaries. Come with us as we get a close up view of shore
birds and wading birds in their natural habitat. See dolphins as they
grace us with their presence and playfulness. We'll add to our touch
tank as we pull crab pots and troll. Take a stroll along the beach with
us near the Morris Island lighthouse or view a maritime forest as we
meander down a salt-marsh creek or two depending on the tides. Enjoy
the fresh salty air and see "where the wild things are." We also
specialize in Harbor History Tours and Sunset Cruises-See our listing
under "Boat Tours." Tours depart from the Charleston Maritime Center
located near the SC Aquarium. Free parking. Reservations recommended,
call (843) 849-TOUR (8687). MC & VISA accepted. |
