America's horticultural heritage is intertwined with Charleston's own history; many of America's favorite plants were first introduced in Charleston,
including the camellia, poinsettia and gardenia.
Some of the offerings include the Heyward Washington House garden with its parterre planted only with flowers and shrubs known in the city in 1791.
All proceeds from the House and Garden Tours benefit The Garden Club of Charleston's continuing projects - maintaining the gardens at the Historic Joseph Manigault House, the Heyward-Washington House, the Gateway Walk and the Healing Garden at MUSC.
