Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site will celebrate the 340th anniversary of the “Birth of the Carolinas” during its Founders’ Day Festival.

Several groups of re-enactors dressed in 17th-century costume will join the park’s staff in delivering an array of living history programs portraying the lifeways of the first colonists. Find out how these brave travelers created the first permanent English settlement in South Carolina after a stormy sail from Barbados in 1670.

Demonstrations such as the firing of blackpowder cannons and muskets, cooking and other daily chores crucial to the colony's survival will take place inside the palisade wall. Visit the wharf area to board a reproduction 17th century trading vessel and experience a day in the life of a sailor.

Stay all day. English and Caribbean foods will be available for purchase from L & B Caribbean Cuisine.
