Bethany UMC - The End of Your Search for a Friendly Church!!

Bethany was first established in the summer of 1950 - when our men were returning from WWII and James Island began to flourish with families. Our motto has always been "The End of Your Search for a Friendly Church!!" - and we as the members of Bethany stand behind this! We are a friendly group of islanders who believe first in God and second in great fellowship! Be sure to check out all of the fun events that we enjoy together each year.

Church Services are held every Sunday starting at 11:15am (summer services normally start at 10:15am). We at Bethany really enjoy church - every Sunday we listen to a sermon given by our new pastor, Reverand Kim Strong. Rev. Kim is a super terrific speaker and his sermons help us as Christians better understand how God wants us to live our lives.

During church, Pastor Kim always has a moment with the children to teach them a lesson about Jesus and growing up as christians. Above you'll see a photo taken of the time Pastor Kim was teaching our children that people cannot be judged by what they look like - in this example the Pastor, a well-known Harley fan, dresses one of our children in motorcycle gear.

Church is really special to us, but real involvement in Bethany includes belonging to a Sunday School class. We have classes for all ages! From the babies to our really mature adults - the best way to partake in the wonderful fellowship that Bethany brags so much about is to join one of these classes! Once you join, you'll know that Bethany is your second family. Sunday School starts each Sunday at 10am (although in the summer it normally starts at 9am). Above is a photo of our "young-adults" class - we call it the Bill Davis Class. To be quite honest - many of us only "feel" like young adults.

Above is a photo of the Jennings Class. This class holds some of our Charter Bethany members - and all of these folks are very important to Bethany!
